Test Patterns and Photoshop Actions for the Autofocus Article in c't Digital Photography 21 (2015)

1. AF_test.gif
An animated test pattern. Should be displayed at 100% in a Web browser.

2. AF_test_pattern_print_version.tif
Print version of our test pattern for printing on a ledger/A3 sheet for experimental purposes only. AF_test.gif (see 1. above) displayed on a computer monitor produces more reliable results.

3. ctDP.atn
This Photoshop Action Set contains Actions for creating sharpness analysis diagrams for the detection of back and front focus errors in autofocus lenses (for instructions on use, see the tutorial included in the magazine article). These Actions were created in Photoshop CC on a Windows computer but should work with earlier Photoshop versions and on Mac computers.

4. DIY_phase_comparison_test_pattern.gif
A test pattern designed to improve understanding of how phase-detection autofocus works. Best displayed using an image viewer or Web browser.

5. moire_test_pattern.gif
A pattern designed to produce obvious moirs for various testing purposes. Best displayed at 100% in an image viewer or Web browser.


6. 3_focus_test_photos.psd
A Photoshop PSD file with three layers. Each layer contains a photo of our AF test pattern, straightened and cropped to size. The AF_analysis Action (see 3. above) can be applied directly this layer stack.
